I'd like to make a request for the Comanche attack/recon chopper. This is a stealthy and nearly silent chopper developed by the US and intended to replace/supplement the Apache Longbow chopper.

Its made using composites and has all that nifty stealth technology incorporated into its design, making it look something like a cooler F-117 reincarnated as a chopper. :D

Ripptide made an awesome Ka-58 and it'd be awesome to have an opponent for the (now-defunt) Eastern Bloc.

Please? Please? :D

Heres links to some pics and a model:

Here is a preview model:

Anyone interested?

the commanche project was cancelled earlyer this year- its not needed any more, now that SOviet russia is no longer a threat, and it dosent fit the combat roles that need to be filled by the US army in its current situations,a dn forsseable future conflicts

and it ate up the military budget research like nobodies buisness from what i understand

No not really.

It was canceled by Donald Rumsfeld earlier this year, but with his potential upcoming resignation things are in the air for a shift of the design to a newer force recon helicopter that incorporates the comanche design.

When you look at how US choppers are being shot out the sky like nobody elses business, you can see the need for a stealth chopper...this thing is quiet and hard to see...1/300th of radar profile and around that of the sound of a normal AH-64. Heat ducts are designed to shuttle heat away from points to prevent infrared tracking.

The project also incorporated late term the ability to control two UAV's for increased recon capbilities.

Rumsfeld decided instead to extend the lifespawn of the Apache, a system whose design is over 30 years old. This made sense financially but perhaps not from a larger viewpoint.

Comanche Request #58 and counting

Which would you prefer, the Recon version?

or the attack version?

That looks great!
Would love it if you did this one Wyrm.

Wow Wyrm! You put Civ Colors on it and everything! You might as well just finish it to make people shut up about it. Or whatever.

persoanlly, i would MUCH rather see a better armed, and mor eimportantlly, armored helicopter infantry transport alternative then having funds spent into a black hawk project- they may seem nice and cool- but in the end, its the ground troops that realyl count, and we need to do better in ensureng that they, and thier direct support equipment are the best out there to deal with what the situation calls for

Yeah they are already working on that with the Future Force Project, totally redesigning all the gear those guys go out with.

Our defense budget is immense compared to any other nations, I think we outspend something like 5 of the other top contenders combined...I sorta wish we could do both.

In retrospect if the recon model has the bays that open and fire off the hellfires that might look cooler than the attack version...

part of the charm of the comanche is that it looks so damn smooth and seksey lol
