Hi all
I have some ideeas about improving civ combat system but i cant do it as i am totaly not good with programming in any way. Ideeas as follows:
1)not always a combat should result in the death of the defeated unit. Maybe a combat should last 3 or 4 hits and then end. If defeated unit is destroyed, that's it, but there is still a chance for it to survive.
2)artilery units should have a bombard ability that also damages enemy units. Also they should be able to provide a defensive barrage for the friendly defending unit before it is attacked by its enemy.
3)as i feel, the air combat (mostly air to air) system in civ 4 is not exactly great. I would like that the fighters intercept each-other and the combat to be calculated based on both's strength and interception chance. However, i feel it is fair that both units can take damage from this air-fight, not just one. Also, air units should receive XP. Maybe the fighters should have a 'bombing' mission of 'air to air attack' so that you clear enemy fighters in a city before sending bombers.
4)what happened to the old paratroopers??
5)what about the 'hidden nationality' attribute that some units could have in civ3? maybe all the other players should see such an unit as barbarian and react accordingly by attacking it on sight. We could use this for special forces units that should be limited to maximum 2 per civ.
6)what about the 'schism' option that was available in civ 2? when you conquered the enemy's capital city, there was a little chance that his whole empire would be divided into two civs that are authomaticly at war.
7)also, what about the partisan units (from civ 2) that were authomaticly poping on the map after you conquered a large city?
8)airports/air bases as terrain improvements?
9)possibility for sea units to captur other sea units (ship of line capture another ship of the line or infantry units capture defeated artilery guns)
Can anyone do these kind of things?
Please comment
Thanks
