I have a lockup occuring because the computer is trying with a settler for the same piece of land I am trying for.

What happens is if I move my settler right next to its settler (on the spot we both want) I am out of moves and can not settle it yet. It is the end of my turn. I hit Enter for next turn, it locks up.

If I move to any other square and allow the computer to settle that patch of ground, no lockup.

I originally posted about this as a graphics problem. But it now seems to be a computer AI problem causing the lockup.

I can only assume that it gets into a loop trying to figure out how to get the settler in the space I am occupying and settle it, or there is a zone of control issue. I.E. It has decided to settle the next best spot, the one it is in, but since I am right next to it, something in the programming may be preventing it and locking it up.

Does anyone know where I could possibly send the saved game to so a programmer/developer can look at it and determine possibly what is going on with the AI to cause the lockup?

Anyone have an addy I can send the save to? It is saved one move from when the bug occurs and is fairly easy to duplicate (assuming it will work on any system of course...)

Since you haven't settled this shouldn't be causing a problem for the AI. It's perfectly possible to found a city on a tile occupied by a unit from another civ, which will then be teleported out of your new borders the following turn if you don't have open borders with them. There's no zone of control in Civ 4 either, so I'm baffled as to why this would cause a crash.

If you the file is not large you could attach it here and people could try and see if they can duplicate the lock up. It would add more datapoints.

Exactly my point. If I move anywhere else, no lockup occurs. If I move to the prime spot right next to its settler unit, game locks up. So has to be an AI bug of some type causing it.

Ok, attempting to attach it here to see if it still locks up for others. The lockup occurs when you move your settler 2 squares Northeast. (North being up on the screen.)

If you move it anywhere else, or not at all the computer civilization will settle that square after you end the turn. No lockup then occurs.

Please let me know if this locks up for you. Thanks.
