All electronic games are now illegal. Both public and private.

Good lord, what the hell were those guys thinking???

If the story posted on the Main Page is true, that could be the end of Apolyton.

If they try that here they can pry my copy of Civ3 from my cold dead fingers.

This is what happens when governments are elected by the majority...:p

I can see the arguements behind this. And it wouldn't surprise me it this spread to other countries. Electronic games are converting humans into mindless drones. Very few have the intellectual or physical (;)) properties to ACTUALLY help a person. They mostly cause people to get fat, and not get work/homework done. :)

However...if such a law is passed here...I assure you, I'll be the pimp-daddy of illegal video games. ;)

The funny thing is that people can gamble on anything if they realy want to. Banning electronic games won't ban gambling. THe funny thing is that cell phones with games such as snake are illegal too. THere was a warning to visitors to greece, that if you have a cellphone with games or a gameboy you may be fined and imprisoned. But as for the argument of video games turning people into mindless drones, aswell as making people fat and lazy. THe same thing can be said for alchohol, Pot, fastfood, pop, potato chips and other junk food. I dont think that there is a chance that a law like that would pass in NA at all. It would piss off too many people, and also, it would seriously harm the economy, video games are hot items. I dont know how they would be able to monitor this though. If i have a game at my house that i am playing, how can they know? does the greek police have laws to do searches and raids without warrants? Also, they said that online chess is illegal, but does that mean that you cannot go to yahoo and play their online chess?

But back to the gambling issue. If gambling is such a problem in Greece, these people will find another thing to gamble on, such as, "how many cars will drive by here in 1 minute?", and i hope that they don't have any game shows or board games in greece. People should only be allowed to work eat and sleep in greece, with the occasional option to be allowed to pro-create. But then i guess that people would be gambling on how long it would take people to have mental breakdowns.

That's true. Plus, I doubt anyone has an electric deck of cards :p

Sigh, well my greek friends, Canada has its doors wider open so come over here and escape the horrible dictatorship or horrible stupidity of your government. I honestly am in disbelief. I dont know how prevalent video games are in Greece, but to me the equivalent of this would be to ban music of any kind in North America because it can cause ear injury. But i mean omg, this is shear insanity, I am still in disbelief. I guess the only real option is for a Video Game Players Lobby to lobby the EU to kick Greece out of the EU or place emargoes against the country untill it smartens up. FMI (for my info) is greece in the EU?

Heck, if the EU acts on this, it'll be the only time I'll ever be glad I'll see Brussels dictating policy to another country.

I can't exactly argue with that, dosen't just about everything else thats enjoyable ;) well mabey not that ;) ohhhh or that :p
They mostly cause people to get fat, and not get work/homework done. :)
Too much food and not enough exersise cause's people to get fat  and little sense of resposibility makes people not get work/homework done. Dont blame it on the games blame it on the person ;)

I play games all the time but Im not fat, stupid, a mindless drone, or too lazy to get work done.

thats not true you need to deal with your own habits before anyone else's, if everyone did that then no one would have to reform other peoples habits.

Anyway Isn't this a violation of Human rights or something

"Im am not no danged old mindless drone". I would read this as sarcasm, except you failed to get my own sarcasm.

Huzzah! This is a step in the right direction!:goodjob:
Now if they ban dancing, unseemly conduct et al, they will be on the way to paradise! :D

you play civilization yourself, don't you?

actually, i asked a greek friend of mine, and he insisted that it's not true.... and then i showed him the article, and he still insisted that it's not true. so now i think that all greeks are completely nuts. they made a dumb law, and then they refuse to admit it. to this date, i still think the only solution is a greece invasion!!! :goodjob:

Maybe they plan to fine only tourists with Gameboys so that they can come up with any economical criteria the EU imposes

As opposed to Washington?

Don't pay attention to him. Might makes right, right rm?

' "You see, they'll have to apologize for insulting the flag, and pay an indemnity, too, on top of it, even if they git off that easy."

Jim says-

"What's an indemnity, Mars Tom?"

"It's cash, that's what it is."

"Who gits it, Mars Tom?"

"Why, WE do!"

"En who gits de apology?"

"The United States. Or we can take whichever we please. We can take the apology if we want to and let the gov'ment take the money."

"How much money will it be, Mars Tom?"

"Well, in an aggravated case like this one, it will be at least three dollars apiece, and I dunno but more."

"Well, den, we'll take de money, Mars Tom, blame de 'pology. Hain't dat yo' notion too? En hain't it yourn, Huck?"

We talked it over a little and allowed that it was as good a way as any, so we agreed to take the money. It was a new business to me, and I asked Tom if countries alwys 'pologized when they done something wrong, and he says -

"Yes, the little ones does." '
