*ahem* and you all thought the cocept of a modern legionary couldnt take off with still haveinga Roman feel to it, the artist who drew this prooved you wrong, that said, if taken up, I have one request- that the sword be put on the other side f the unit (the left side) to denote an officer

Xen i must have lit a fire under you when i posted those Terra Fulminata pics huh?;) Well i tell you this, that is a great drawing! Kudos to whomever drew it.

Cheers Thorgrimm

I've always been wanting more modern legions and such, its just that all my own pictures were basically crap, seems though, thankfully that not only am I not the only person to have such a thought, but others whom hav had it have more drawing talen then i do as well

Well you know me, i do not think if the Empire would have developed Gunpowder they would have stopped expanding that is why i like this pic of the beginning of the age of discovery, Roman style.:D

Cheers Thorgrimm

Where did you get that Image Xen?

ironically enough, I found this image when doing an image search for one of Romes oldest types of soldires, the triarii, unforutnutlly, it was very much one of those "save pic and close windows deals", about all I remember is that the artist was itallian, and ahd some other work, onyl one picture of somthing alon a similer line (a better head shot, which I have made into somthing more befit of an avatar, though I may not use it, its a very serious expression, while I like the joyhearte dlightness of ye olde Pirate Jack there ;))

there were a few other pictures, though non really stood out for me other then the two in this theme

here is that one other image i was tlaking about, cropped and edited out of the rest of its picture (no more of th elegionary, this is the extent of it) to be better fodder for an avatar

@Thorgrimme- cool picture :), though I wonder how the african civilizations would have developed, had Rome conqoured those areas- i imagine some very large and powerful African states vasselized into client states under the Roman empire...

no, trhough i have PMed Kinboat tellign him this is the direction i would prefer to go with with th unit he was makeing (in the best case scenario he would make both though ;))

if it didnt it wouldnt be here :) :p

If this unit was made iot would replace the Intallian Infantry oon my mod, fo sho.

I have news, even if this exact unit isnt made, you'll be getting a replacement for it(italian Inf) regardless, all you have to do is wait, like I suggested in the fisrt page of that thread ;)

It looks like an interesting unit, I hope someone makes it.

You know Roman inventors made all the componets of the Steam Engine but never put them together?

actually speaking of that, alexandrian engineers DID make aprtotype working steam engine- the reason that Rome never industrialized was massive use of slave labor for its manufacturing needs- if Rome had stayed on its pre-punic wars type econmy in native itally during the mepire, its very lieklyl that we would have seen Roman industrialization

I like that image very much... And the thing is it's not all that unrealistic. One of the reasons the Steel helmet came back into use around WW1 was to protect against air burst shell shrapnel. This armor looks to just be an extention of that idea, just protecting the shoulders and chest as well as the head. You could also argue for the Hypothetical 1914 Roman Army re-issuing their Gladius to aid in the Trench fighting going on.
I wasn't too keen on your insistance of Roman style armor in the modern era but I think this picture has blended the times quite nicely.

so, would that be a yes to makeing him?
