Config settings

Couple of issues with custom settings in the config file:

1) First, and this has bothered me for a while, the default settings in the config file seem to have no bearing on the actual game. Things like default map and size. For instance, I prefer standard size maps, but it always shows up as small. (Actually wish that game would just remember settings like in IV, but it never does)

2) I had activated the Quick Combat setting in config some time ago so that it was always enabled. Worked fine until the G&K patch came out (actually just bought G&K). Regardless, since then it does not work or remember it. yes, I know the option is available now in game, but I always have to activate it. I just want it to always work.

and yes, I've delete the config file and graphic files after the patch/g&k. Had to anyway as that was the reason for my extreme graphical issues.

just curious why the config file settings seem to have no bearing on the game and if there is anything I can do about it

1) If you start the game from the advanced settings it won;'t save the map size, leader, difficulty etc. So click back and start from there (it will keep what you made in the advanced settings for this game only, but the "normal settings" will be remembered).

2) Can and should work. Note that you need to set "; Set to 1 to disable Combat system
Combat = 1" (there is something else called "quick combat, which is the wrong setting!).
If it still doesn't work, I'd recommend a re-installation of the game.
(note: apparently even though I've got it working, if I load the TSG save in GK now, I have to enable it via the options as the creator had it disabled).

1) yeah, i've always loaded from advanced settings. I'll try your way. (still odd that the defaults don't appear though from config)

2)Ha...what the heck is "quick combat' for now. I could have sworn that worked before. I see the Combat System setting, so I will change that to 1.

yeah, the TSG saves require changing each time, but that's ok
