Same problems as 6, doesn't save your New Game settings, also no "Restart" new map option

Some issues already. When I set up a new game and I pick a difficulty level, I want it to save that difficulty level for next game. I can't imagine ANY player would ever want the game to default to a lower difficulty level than the last level they played. Just save what I picked last time! There is a way to save config but the game doesn't seem to use these by default. The player should be able to specify one of those saves as the default at the very least!

Also we're missing the Restart with new map feature which was so awesome from Civ 6, so if you get a bunk starting point you not only have to go back to the main menu, but because it doesn't save your settings you have to go through ALL the settings again.

Weirdly it also doesn't seem to save that you've seen the tutorial screens already so you see them every single time you start.

While I agree with your post in general, I disagree with this part. I completed a few games of Civ VI on Deity and then decided that it wasn't as much fun as playing on Emperor or Immortal. So, I went down sometimes!

So lower it, the statement was about the default. Do you want every new game you start to be level 2? Because that's what it does now. If you choose Deity, and want to go down to Immortal (or whatever they're called now), you have to manually make that choice. However if you're just continuously playing Immortal, the game always defaults to Prince, just like 6. It is silly and not how most people play.

Think of it this way. If you're an Emperor / Immortal player, would it be better for you if the game always defaults to Prince or if it defaults to the last difficulty level you selected?

I totally agree that a Restart button would be nice. However, because of the ways the terrain was been yield-equalized, there's a lot less reason to need to restart than there was in Civ 6--which I like.

I agree

I agree with the OP but disagree with this. Greece requires at least 2 rough terrain tiles near the city center without resources to get the most out of their Acropolis and Oracle. I got that less than half the time. Once, I started on a tile surrounded by 2 navigable rivers and only had ONE tile I could turn into an urban district (two if you count the fishing quay.) Several times I started without fresh water as well. And the ability to see what is going on around you pioneer is severely limited, at least in the tutorial - you need to minimize a window just to call up the settler lens, which come up for your settles, but not you founder.

So, scout the land and find this particular spot for your second settlement? Or just... play it out? People have such a strong urge to save scum on turn 1 that they want a dedicated button for it?

Yes, and we used to have it. Let people play the way they want. A game of Civ is a massive time investment and some players only get to play occasionally. If they want to have an ideal start that really shouldn’t offend you.

Yeah, I'm definitely missing that restart button.
