I noted that Agemo has logged in and out without civstats showing a "finished turn" message during the last two game turns. I too am waiting on him before playing my turn...is he having a technical problem of some sort? It gets problematical (trying to avoid dm's) for me also as I have limited time windows in which to play my turns...

I finished my turn this morning. I don't know why the game/civstats shows that my turn is not completed. Unfortunately I do not have time to correct this time as I won't be home until 5-6 hours later.
If this ever happened again and the server is up and running, you may safely assume that I completed my turn. I usually don't leave it hanging.

Thx

platfuss, I am having problems with your log outs or something.

The game has crashed twice in the last few days and I have had to restore from the last players auto-save and both were your account.

And then when I restore from the backup, it doesnt show you as having completed your turn.

I apologize for any inconvenience, but I wanted to let you know about this weird thing going on.

OK, seems my server picked up a trojan from somewhere.

IT gives me bogus system messages and tries to force me to download 'System Doctor', 'Malwarewipe, 'Virusbursters' (sic), and other costly apps to remove the trojan that htey likely made and snuck onto my server.

So I am going to be trying to wipe it from my machine.

Its down for now, and I'll post when its back up.

OK, looks like its fixed witht he Smitfraudfix app.

*crossing fingers, toes, and eyes*

Logging in a few minutes ago I found that you uploaded a save that is one turn back. Was that necessary due to the virus or is it a mistake and you can upload that latest turn that was almost finished apart from Thalatta and I.

Just in case we need to replay with the previous turn: I assume we are all going to exactly duplicate our moves we made last turn as well as the moves we made this turn?

Nah, I can restore from the last autosave that occurs when a player ends his turn.

Doing so now to correct the loss of a turn.

Update: the game turn year is now back to 720 BC as it should be, with 8 hours remaining.

I patched warlords to ver 2.08 following the instructions on the strategamer forum 32 player ptbs thread (copied original to a separate folder and updated the original, now patched. file.) I was able to play a turn in the patched 32 player game but now am unsuccessful at trying to start the old, unpatched version to play the 24 player game...any one else have this problem? Also, civstats shows me as having completed my latest (720 bc, I believe) turn when I never played it?...at least not that I remember...

To add more info to the above post...I copied the warlords folder out of the original civ 4 install as per the strategakmer forum instructions and now receive the following error messages upon trying to start the game using the warlords exe file:
1) failed loading XML file XML\gameInfo/civ4playeroptions.xml
2)load XML call failed for gameInfo/civ4playeroptions.xml

On post 342, IanDC posted the following:

Below is the advice that I took for a double install, this is from pre-patched status so if your patched I guess you have to do a reinstall first -

This assumes that you have not patched and still only have version 200, if you have patched you will have to uninstall WL's and reinstall WL ver 200 from the CD.

1. Open windows explorer, and navigate to C:\program files\firaxis games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\

2. You should now see a folder called Warlords, right click and drag that to your destop, when you release your mouse it will give you the option of copy or move please chose copy. You now have a copy of the original ver 200 folder.

3. Click on the folder name on the desktop folder, and change it to Warlords200, hit enter to finish the change.

4. Now move(not copy) that folder back into the "Sid Meier's Civilization 4\" folder, you should now have a Warlords folder and a Warlords200 folder.

5. Now you can feel free to patch via the WL's lobby or D/L from a fan sight. Unfortunately the Firaxis installers will only patch the WL's version that was originally installed, and it has no option to change folders. Which means that it will patch the orginal Warlords folder to 208.

6. Now you can create a shortcut to the exe in the Warlords200 folder to your desktop and after renaming it warlords200 you will now have a shortcut to 200 and the original 'Launch Civ4 Warlords" shortcut will launch ver 208, you can rename that shortcut Warlords208 if you like as well.

Now your off to the races, just becareful never to enter the MP lobby with ver200 or it will want to autopatch, just use 200 for your PBEM or DirectIP MP games.

Cheers CS

Ah...I missed the part about reinstalling the warlords 200 folder back into the now patched civ4 folder....works now. Thanks:D

I dont see a login for Thallata (Rome) since the 17th.

Is he still playing?

Do I need to kick him out and let the AI play Rome till he is back in the game?

He must have queued up his stuff for a while, to build after his massive expansion? I can't imagine he'd drop out.

OK, I'll leave his stuff alone since you guys think he is just out for a short while.

Just wanted to save a little time and make sure Rome didnt suffer from complete inactivity.

Maybe we should post here if we are going to take a break from the game for more than a couple of days?

I dunno, but it would help from my perspective.

People should post in the stickied Vacation/Absence thread to make it easy for all the PTBS games going. :)

This is a formal complaint that the Mongolian moved twice in a war to raze my iron mine. From this point on, I will use every trick that I know to continue the war...

Well...I received two consecutive "new turn" e-mail notifications from civstats a couple of days ago and wasn't too sure exactly who moved when...or if at all. I also noted that a few turns ago, Agemo didn't complete two turns in a row. Was that when my dm occured? Agemo, didn't you also state that "dm's would make little difference at this point" in your recent communication to me? ( I think because of that statement...and my limited timeframe to get turns in...I have not been paying as close attention to turn order) In any case, if the moderator wants me to leave the game for cheating, then I would comply.

I have had several issues over the last week regarding a trojan that got on my server and I had to remove it, then I loaded the wrong file and lost a turn for a few hours before I saw a post pointing that out, then fixed it.

I have to take some of the responsibility for the confusion regarding to turns. When I reloaded the save game and restored the lost turn, CivStats might have sent a second notice for the same turn.

Lets just try to play nice, cut each other some slack on the DMs, especially since it seems some of us are not able to enter our turns timely every day, and wipe out the Persians,....ooops, I mean, excell in the game the best we can, you know.

And for all you fellow Yanks, Happy Thanksgiving day weekend.
