He was set to AI control when Swiss1 bowed out.

Guess the AI thinks you should be bugged.

Not my fault!

:(

Bizarre. I can't see why he'd think another war is a good idea at this point...

This is strange.

I tried to connect to the pitboss server from another computer on my home LAN and I am getting redirected it seems to Thallata's peer. Instead of connecting to my serve, I see a message displayed in my client that ays 'Connecting to Established peer "Thallata"'.

I then get out of sync errors on my pit boss message screen.

Anyone know what this is about?

The problems might be on my end - I've not had them before with civ, but have had connectivity problems with some other programs, so I just tried to finish my turn as quickly as possible.

By the way, seeing as he is AI now and was flashing a worker at me, Uqba ibn Nafi has been wardec'd. :D

Edit: Louis has also been wardec'd - I'm trying to snag enough XP for my first great general. :P

You get the "connecting to established peer" message if another player is already logged on when you connect (it should come after the "connected to host " bit). In theory everybody can be online at once in pitboss but in this case the size of the game seems to make it very difficult for the 2nd player to actually get in & meanwhile the 1st player gets a "waiting for XXX to connect message" & can't do anything. When your attempt to connect eventually gives up I think you get some sort of an error message.

I've taken to checking civ stats to see that it's all clear before attempting to join as I've yet to connect successfully if anyone else is on.

Not sure but this may be what your getting :)

I've actually been connected a couple of times while another players was on. But then when a SECOND player connected... it caused some problems and tied up the computer, with no end in sight. So I exited, came back later and finished my turn.

Mr JMaltman,
I'm afraid I'm to blame for your war with the Moroccans. After losing my capital to the Romans, I was looking for someplace...anyplace!...to found a second city to replace the first one I lost, preferably as far away from Thelatta's attention as possible. You had your unguarded settler sitting on a spot south of me for a lot of turns (with your archer 1 tile away) . I had moved my spearman there and left him within sight of your settler for about three turns before taking him . It wasn't a vindictive move...and no, I really didn't want another war so soon...but the squeeze was on over along the coast so south was the only direction I had left. I'm not sure what the AI's going to do with my settler which was headed south to found a city where you were but you may be able to do something to get it...I didn't knoiw I'd have the opportunity to get a different civ halfway across the map and am sorry to have messed you up like that.
It's really not a great idea to leave settlers unguarded...even in sp the AI will get them with barbarians or critters and, in mp the hazards are even greater, as I found out by seeing my capital make a hasty early exit...

Um, why sounding so apologetic?

This is a WAR game, right?

You should be crowing about it and threatening more harm should the Malinese ever sete foot in the Gobi Desert!

lol j/k

I was just kidding, after all, being in dead last place among all the players, I hardly have any room to critique anyone else here, lol.

Yes Arckon, I caught that you were joking ....In my post explaining the events surrounding the capture of JMaltman's settler...if I had done that capture while knowing that I was going to be moving to another civ...that would have been pretty vindictive and gained me nothing. So I thought a brief, maybe over-apolegetic, explanation was in order. I do, however, still maintain that it's a bad idea to leave unguarded settlers hanging around anywhere on the civ4 map outside of city boundaries.

Dammit!

That's what happened to my settler?

I had plotted a path from where he was down to my other skirmisher, through safe line of sight, just before I went on vacation and my friend couldn't take over for a couple of turns. Maybe on a reload or something that path never happened? I couldn't figure out what happened to it. So basically I got screwed because I was away, and get the war. :P

Oh well, no sense complaining.

I was able to log in about 7 hrs ago but the connection dropped before I could finish my turn. Havn't been able to connect since then and it looks like no one else has either.

After exiting the game by "exiting to main menu", are there other procedures to insure you're still not tying up the connection? After going to the main menu, I've just been exiting the game by the lower command menu.

If you need a sub for this game...let me know. I would be intrested in playing.

Sure, join up.

Just tell us which civ you want to take over that is AI controled and provide your ruler name.

I pmed you the DNS to use to log in.

I would like the Aztecs. which adress is it...either or?. I tried both...put it in the ip box. Crashed and got runtime error when I tried to join ?. Does this game need a MOD loaded first?. Thx
