Constant crashes

I'm having this very annoying problem with Civ 4: After about few minutes of playing the screen goes black and a few secs later the computer restarts.
I read somewhere that this might be because the computer overheats which I find kind of wierd since I have no problems running other much heavier games for example Oblivion or F.E.A.R.
Any suggestions?

Processor: Amd atholon 3000+
Memory: 2048mb super talent 400mhz
Graphic card: Geforce 7800 (AGP)
Power supply: 400w

Edit: I've also tried to lower the resolution to MINIMUM, still happens...

Attach your dxdiag using the go advanced button and Ill have a look for you.

I does sound like something is overheating though, do you know what kind of temps your cpu is running at?

Try the following ini file tweak: SetMaxFrameRate=30. Monitor your gpu temperature if you can. Open up your computer case. Clean the fans. Get an external fan and blow some fresh air in.

My CPU temp is below 50degreeC at full load. I am on Intel Stock Cooler.
My GPU temp is below 48degreeC at full load. I am on Zalman VF-900CU-LED GPU cooler (side hole for fresh air to GPU).

It could be overheating, or it could be something else. Go to C:\WINDOWS\Minidump and zip up the most recent .dmp file and attach it to your next post and I'll see if I can figure out what exactly is causing your crashes.

Hi,

I'm having the same problem, also in the Warlords Expansion. I've got an GForce 7800 GS and a Intel P4 3.2. It's strange, like Pullman, i've been running another games, like Prey and Doom 3, and this didn't happend. Also, if the crash isn't a dark screen and restart, it also exit the game.

All the civs that i've started worked well for a while, after re-loading the game, but in a auto-save that i've the game exists when i discovery something...

I've being testing this, this ocours after i've installed 1.61 Patch, in the warlords expansion and the civilization 4. I've checked the Temps, they are fine. I've putted maxFrame=30, but still happend.

Any ideias?
