Ok so i have a problem with crashing. This happens on any turn, doesnt matter which. What happens is, i will do something, click something and then all of a sudden the music stops playing and nothing happens. I can still move the cursor, but nothing else happens. It does this in full screen and windowed. here is the event from event viewer.

It also happened last night, and i have that logged in my event viewer, the only thing different in it was the process id and start time.

I'm going to try it in DX9 mode later today, but it the most times it happens are during the loading of the next turn, or when i am performing an action with a unit.

I've pretty much ruled it out as a hardware problem, ive tested my RAM, CPU, GPU for errors and faults, and nothing happens. This is the only application that ever crashes on me.

CiV did run stable since I bought it months ago. But not any longer :(

Two days ago three components changed:

- Civ updated to 1.0.1.348
- Nvidia driver updated to 275.33
- GFX changed from GTX 260 to GTX 560

Since then I started running CiV in DX11 mode. And since then I get crashes. I'm not 100% sure but all crashes today did happen when a conversation with an AI was about to pop up. The Screen flickers and becomes black and I get a message that the driver has crashed :(

So, how to proceed?

This is probably a hardware problem, different from mine. Either the nvidia driver is faulty, or your new card is faulty.

Anyways i tried in DX9 mode, it did crash eventually. I only saw one crash, but when i look in event viewer, there were two application errors. Here is the event of the actual crash:
Faulting application name: CivilizationV.exe, version: 1.0.1.348, time stamp: 0x4e144f09

And here is the error that i didnt notice before:

Sadly i can't read anything out of these reports.

Since this has to do also with graphical interactions, the first thing to ask is sure: Drivers?

C

So, how to proceed?

Turn down the graphical settings for the leaders, do NOT set them to high, take something lower.

Im 100 percent sure its a problem with the game itself. i just dont know what the problem exactly is.

Its a shame as this was my most favourite civ game yet. I was eagerly awaiting the dll release so i could play full conversion mods, and stuff like Rhyse and fall. :(

Ok, i think i might have fixed it. I dont know how this fixed it, or why. but i changed the settings for time between autosaves to 1 so that i wouldnt lose my saves every time it crashed, and i changed the max autosaves to 10. I then played for an hour and a half with no crashes. Im gonna play some more and if i get another crash ill report in.

This seems to help, no crash dring todays session. There is hope :)

Thanks

Agree completely, after over 100 hours of play the recent update of Civ V and the NVidia drivers have rendered Civ V completely unstable. However if I turn down the leader graphics setting its rock solid. Pretty sure its software related and not hardware.

I've been having constant crashes too, since the last patch/hotfix. Getting pretty tired of trying to play the game now...

I had the same problem as Taronas. In DX 11 (not in DX9) CIV every time crashed when Alexander (Greece) appeared. No problem with other leaders. I changed graphic quality of leaders from high to medium and the problem was gone.
