I can start new games or load saved ones after starting up Civ V. However, thereafter I get CTDs ("stopped responding") when loading any save. During one particular battle involving multiple units I was getting CTDs fairly often. Entering into or navigating the Civolopedia will generally always result in a crash. Sometimes clicking around in a city screen causes a crash. If a butterfly flaps its wings too close to the screen, CTD. You get the idea.

I'm running Vista, 32-bit. Intel Core 2, 4 GB RAM, GE Force 8800 GTS. Drivers updated, DirectX updated. Any way to make this more stable?

Is it a GTS 320MB? Have you tried playing at minimum graphics settings?

It's a 640 MB.

Also, right when I first load everything, I can reload saves for a turn or two without it crashing, but then after a certain point it crashes every time no matter what. Same with the civolopedia. I can access it right when I first load up the game, but after a few turns it's a surefire kill.
