Cookbook #3 (Culture victory)

I've enjoyed playing the early turnsets of #1 and #2 and the enthusiasm of everybody involved.
Thanks @Fippy for hosting these games!

I thought why not start a new one with a simple rule. Let's go for Culture victory only (Not Espionage!) to make games more comparable and educational for everyone who doesn't play this kind of victory often.

Settings
- Inland Sea, standard size and normal speed.
- Immortal level.
- Agressive AI.
- Choose Religions (for a twist).
- No huts and no events.
- Used Buffy 5.

You'll play as Pericles (Phi/Cre) with 6 random AI. (I don't even know who they are)

Rules
- Essentially the same as the previous ones...
- Play until turn 50 and post your save.
- Turn 50 can be completed, but do not advance to turn 51.
- No reloading.
- No spoilers while others play.
- You can look at other saves, after you have submitted your own.
- When you miss a round, you can join the next one after voting/choosing is done.
- Deadline for the 1st round (February 8th). That means one week, after which you can discuss the early game freely.
- Please rename your save.

Looks like fun! Would someone be able to point me to a guide to how to open BUFFY saves? I'm getting a bunch of error messages followed by a game crash. Avoided cookbook 2 for the same reason but if they're all going to be BUFFY I'd better learn

Thanks, got a little bit further than before, but still having a problem where, as I try to load the save with the mod installed, I get a popup saying "The save file you have selected is protected to ensure that the assets in your mod folder have not been changed". Is there a way to open the save that I'm not aware of?

Super sorry to clog up page one of the thread with this, but I'm pretty bad with tech.

Just that error message I got once recently too! When downloading Pedro78s game "All about mistakes", but I just did a restart and then the problem went away. Never seen that error message before or after that.

I've had this problem before...do you have the steam version of BtS?

Lost track of the last 2 cookbooks. May see if I can motivate myself to play this one. No espionage should add a bit more challenge to this. Aggressive Ai should make immortal a lot more challenging but I guess picking best save sort of minimises the impact.

Not had that message personally but sounds Steam related. That or you have installed other mods?

Save loaded fine for me. Will look at this tomorrow. (That's actually today but I should probably be asleep by now.)

I have civ through steam, but it seems to work most of the time.
@Samuel_996 have you tried setting steam to offline mode? Iirc that solved some issue for me which I fogot what it was.

I'm in the same boat as Gumbolt I think, sorta lost steam on the other cookbooks but I'd like to give this one a whirl. Aggressive AI really excites me for the worker-steal possibilities... but of course that is a risky move in a no-reloads game and may foul up later diplomacy.

I really have no idea what aggressive AI really does.
Care to shed some light on the details?

Aggressive AI (game option, not leader trait): Makes the AI agree to Cease Fire very quickly (mainly for repeated worker stealing)

@Undefeatable Yes, I'm using Steam BTS. Tried offline mode as per @krikav but had the same problem. Is it a problem that I have BUG installed? Might just try uninstalling all 3 of BTS, BUG and BUFFY and then reinstalling.

Don't know, but it might be a problem? I think I have bug, or perhaps I only have buffy... Whenever things fuzz too much for me, I do what you suggest and just reinstall everything.

I really have to sleep now (it's literally 7am what am I doing with my life) but I'll reply more tomorrow about some ideas as to what could be causing the issue.
