My wife is convinced that Civ 4 caused us to have to completely wipe our hard drive. I installed the game, had some driver issues, downloaded the Catalyst control center for ATI, and was able to run the game seemingly flawlessly. Only played for a week or so, only got about 1/2 way through the tech tree. Tried to load a game, got a big freeze. From then on, couldn't start windows at all, because of a corrup or missing system file. We had to do a system restore. I don't see how it could be caused by the game, but I only have a mid-range knowledge of the ins and outs of the OS. Anyone have or hear of this caused by civ 4?

Well, I've had Civ4 cause my computer to corrupt the HD when it first came out so it's possible that it may have indirectly caused a problem with the system somewhere. I assume you have patched it as it will be less intensive on the HD when playing it.

Yes, I had it patched to whatever came before the patch of 2 days ago... Should I be worried about installing it again?
