Cossaks: How to beat Algerians?

Hey! That's not fair! And I believed I was the cheater!!!

I don't even have the game... I could help you with Medieval total war though ;)

Algerians can't upgrade to the 18th century, so focus on defence until you can build 18th century barracks. Then destroy him with musketeers and cannon. Watch out for raids, though, since less advanced forces (Ukraine, Algeria, Turkey) can build large numbers of very fast troops very quickly. I think they can also build those horsemen that shoot flaming arrows. Very annoying.

That white horse kills almost anything quickly :) very useful. Just use these to raid him constantly towers arent much use really as mortars can destroy them quickly my advice i sto stick with horses for attack and infantry for defence

Tell me about it! I jus got my a** kicked so hard, I could not sit down for a week!

It's rathe easy to destroy algerians - much artillery as usually, and much horses against their silly archers.

Wait? No way! After you understand you'r defense is good, gather army with numerous cannons in avant guarde to shoot their horsemen and archers from a close distance.
Well, I think the strategy is rather common.
Btw, try to play by Ukrainians - their speedy cossacks work well against algerians.

I have liked Polish (this game has Portugal and I don't use it...)
That white horses are:
- Cheap to build
- Cheap to upgrade (200~300 food & some food from my 4 mills :D )
- 17th Ceutury
- Have high attack, are fast (duh...) and take a arrow (235>199)

What do you say about these?
Ukrain is good, but the lack of Pikeman annoys me. They are so usefull to stop armies next to towers and to save horses lives to more usefull rides :D

I have practiced and I'm tending to these strat.
What do you think?

Yeah, I enjoy playing polish too their winged hussars is a great!!!!!! unit.

What do you think about russian knights and saxon cavalry?

Russia is a fine Civ. Very complete and powerfull.
I've tried it and it rocks. But I continued my "research".
Saxony, I've never tried. I'll now that you mentioned it.

The problem is that I'll miss that whity things with a strabge helm.

Just to justify myself about my strat...
I've come to think that different Civ's require completelly diferent peasent-strats.
For an example, Polish require a lots of food in 17th century and a lot of gold to 18th. Much more than say, Algeria, who don't use that much gold...

So, after some tryings (Algeria, Turkey, Ukraine, Portugal, England, France, Russia) and after have played against all of them I stick in Polish, 'cause of pikes, 18th granadiers and CAVALRY.

In fact, the first time I play against SoRHunter, I waited for his attack, I attracted him to my "alone" pikes and then charge from the rear with cavalry against his archers. The victory was so big that I then attack his village and in a question of minutes the game was won :D

I'll try that options for a change...

BTW, did you try to play campaigns? They are brilliant, a bit tough though. Especially I enjoyed playing Russian campaigns (Ukrainian are too easy). But I managed to finish only Ukrainian campaign - English bores me, and I have not time for Russian campaign.
So did you try campaigns? I think it's rather boring to play single maps only.

I tryed Polish campaign, but after ~12 restarts I quit. We begin with an hero (that cannot die!) and it becomes harder and harder.

I play single scenarios though. That with Poland, Sweden and Russia is very cool ("Three Nations"). You have a central Peninsula with ~15 gold mines, conected to the 3 peninsulas at the corners. It's quite easy, If you don't choose Very Hards...

BTW, in one of the scenarios I had a problem. In the begining you have to load all your troops to a transport ship. HOW the hell can you DO THAT!?!?
I've tried so many ways and I simply cannot do it. :(

Normally I play random maps, but I tried all different combinations.
Very confusing to organize a game with "different nations start" and "resources:millions" selected, with no peace time.
If you haven't tryed it, do it and then tell the results.
(In about ten minutes you have to organize 4 or 5 different economies, doing all the buildings for some, reserching some techs for all, others just for one or two, arranging in the terrain all the 4~5 civs structures and built an combined army!!!

I'll try the campaigns. I'll start for the one from Ukraine, 'cause I need a easy one to get started because I'm a bit traumatized...

Hope to see your results in that madness... :)
