Could my DVD drive be the reason for my missing ini file?

Hi, can't install properly. Everything seems to go fine, but the routine doesn't install the config.ini file, or anything else that goes in the my docs folder.

It's not that I can't find the ini file, or thats it's hidden. It's not there, after multiple install attemps. I'm assuming that without this file there's no point continuing further.

Could it be that the program doesn't like my DVD drive? I have a Samsung DVD reader/CD writer combo. Works flawlessly for everything else. It's an SM 304B.

Can anyone wiser than me tell me if this is a plausible reason for the partial install? If so, is there anything I can do about it?! DVD drivers are up to date.

No. The My Games files get created after the initialization screen. So they are not missing during the installation but get created manually when the game actually starts.
