Hello metrikal. Please tell us some details about your trouble.
Have you successfully installed the game? Any errors? Have you patched the game (latest patch 1.61)?
Have you successfully started the game? If not, how far do you get? Do you see the "loading" screen in 6 languages? Do you see the "init" screen?
Can you see videos? Can you hear sound?
Can you start a game? Can you found a city, play a few turns (e.g. 10?). Do you crash always at a certain event (e.g., completing a wonder)? Or is it random? How long can you play?

thanks for the replay...
well had no computer almost since posted my post (hardware issues)
and here's the spec:
i can play! (that's what makes it so annoying)
yes to six screen,init screen,videos,sounds
i can found cities, the longest i played without crashes is about 20 minutes
the crash seems random, no specific event triggers the crash...
(this could border in paranoia, but every time im siting cofortable in my couch saying to my self "yes!the fix worked, let's have some fun now"-boom i crash!)
no errors in installing, yes, have installed the latest patch-1.61.
any suggestions?!

Just some general troubleshooting tips:
- install latest DirectX (download from microsoft)
- install latest graphics drivers (download from nvidia)
- set graphics details to low
- lower game resolution
- turn off movies (in-game options) / audio (ini file option)
- disable all background apps before launching civ (e.g., instant messengers, antivirus programs)
- try setting the game to windowed mode (ini file option)
- ini file option: SetMaxFrameRate to 30 or 40

Could it be that your HW issues also affect civ and result in crashes? Civ4 will push your hardware to the limits. Fix your HW issues first.
