I have browsed here as much as I can without finding my exact problem, so here goes - I have played C3c (with the firaxis vanilla and the atari conquest versions - each with their own box) for over 3 years on my comp with NO problems. I started playing again last week.

3 days ago, it began crashing to desktop with no warning or error. This happens when a worker is used to build a mine or road, sometimes when a troop runs over a goody hut - in any event, it does so about turn 3 of a new game. It also does it in the conquest scenarios - I've tried 3 of them.

I tried what routine fixes I knew and completed the obvious ones, including the reinstall complete with patch renewal. I very briefly saw a small grey box when I reinstalled that suggested an error, but was unable to duplicate the thing. I think it said something about '5n' (five-N), whatever that means, but it blinked in and out so fast that I couldn't catch it.

I need to get this fixed. If anyone knows anything that might help, please sound off. I thought it might be the audio files but the reinstall shot that one down. I would love to find out that it's a dll., but I don't know what dll.s to look for that might cause this particular problem. I hate playing a game that I can not trust...grgr - oh well. Any help would be appreciated. Thx!

EDIT: Problem solved using a deep reinstall and reseting game to win 2000 compatability. I evidently had a faulty gfx file somewhere that was triggered with use of the editor. Exacts are unknown. I had to delete all leftover files when I uninstalled - hence the words 'deep reinstall'. Oh well - live n learn - modding can be frustrating when things go whiggy. Cya!
