Game-play freezes and crashes are very rare on my machine. Its on old classic G3 iMac, w/ a recent system upgrade to OS X (running 512 MB RAM).

Incident --- I had just finished playing a game (s/r victory) where I had a stock of nukes. So I saved the game inorder to wreak havoc upon the English later. I then began a new game w/ the sole purpose of attaining a cultural victory (I've not done this yet). I chose Egypt and things were going well. However, I began getting game-play freezes and crashes in the diplomacy screen. [Playing in OS 9.2]

I really wanted to play the game, so I saved regularly. But, I was playing on the disk image. When the game froze, and I had to restart, I lost all saves back to where I began playing during that sitting. (I don't understand why this happens but it does). Computer restarts didn't fix the problem.

So, I said to myself, "Self, I wonder if trashing the old s/r victory game will do anything?" Unbelievable! It did! The game is playable and I've not experienced any recurrence . :crazyeye:

Go Egypt! :egypt:

I think this is a known problem. I saw somewhere that you have to remove previous non-auto saves from the save folder before starting a new game or it screws up the diplomacy screen. I've been doing it ever since and just keeping particularly interesting saves in another folder.

Really? Weird! I'll make the change.

Thanks gfeier .
