crash with directx and display setting

it seems abit late, but i bought my civ4 for 2yrs and now wanna start playing it; yet , as i got 1.61 patch and latest directx available fr microsoft (i.e. DirectX 9.0 Web setup & Win32 Cabinet Self-Extractor), my civ4 still crash.
my computer setting is intel P D 3.4ghz with nvidia geforce 7300 gs.

can someone kindly give me some suggestion to fix it?

the last patch is 1.74 !!

do you have all nvidea patches and updates , .... ?
