Crashes or locks on "init graphics"

Whenever I try to start a game it locks up or crashes when it gets to "init graphics". I even did a completely fresh install of the game. Vanilla BtS loads fine. Any ideas?

I'm trying to think of what has changed on my computer, but it's been a while since I last played. Without knowing what sort of things could cause a crash at that point it's hard to narrow it down. Suggestions on where to start would be welcome.

I'm having the same exact problem. Would really appreciate some help. Just installed an hour ago.

I solved my problem by updating BtS to the appropriate version. I had thought I had done this, but apparently since I bought BtS from D2D, I needed a special D2D patch for it.
