Crashes when destroying last enemy unit

I'm having a frustrating problem: I destroyed all of Egypt's cities and their civilization has been traveling around in a boat for hundreds of years and won't enter into peace talks. When I try to destroy the boat, the message comes up that I've destroyed the Egyptians but then there is an error message and the game crashes.

I'm in 1800 so I've invested a lot of time into this game and my citizens are all irritated I've been at war for so long.

I have the big patch, but is there anything else I can do?

Thanks,

Reid.

PS: I've tried attacking their boat from different angles and with different boats to try to get a different outcome, to no avail.

Hi,

When I start the game, after the opening video, etc, the options screen is all malaligned, with the text overlapping in big bunches. Also the radio buttons next to the options do not line up.

When I start the game it crashes out immediately after the first map choice screen.

I have installed the patch, and updated my video card drivers to the very latest, and nothing has made any difference.

I've not been able to find any other reference to overlapping text on the forum, but apologies if this ground has already been covered.

I'm running a PII 350, 160MB RAM, 3D Prophet Guillemot NVidia GeForce 2 MX.

Any thoughts?

Cheers,
John Walker

This is about the 5th thread with this bug described. I hgave the exact same problem as you do - their last unit is in a boat, and if I destroy it, the game crashes. I got no help with it either when I posted mine a week ago. Good luck.

I have this problem too.

My difference is I can negotiate with the CIV and end the war. I just can't kill the last unit (a galley)

I got around this problem by giving the French a city, after removing all troops from it.

The next turn I declared war, sank the ship and invaded the city! The French were out of the game after this..
