Crazy Idea...attacking Berlin for the pyramids.

In the not to distant future we should think about this. IF we move all of our forces except for city garrisons we may have enough to capture and hold Berlin. We would get the pyramids and then can use Representation/Universal sufferage to speed our economic recovery post-war.

Our forces plus the addition of a few cats might be the difference. We then build the Forbidden Palace there. We would span from one side of our land mass to the other and divide the German territories in two.

I am not considering this now but perhaps start of next term or very late in this term but if we consider this...we should start moving city attack troops now towards toot and Basilica.

What are the thoughts on this...I would also suggest we learn from our mistakes last time and seek only LIMITED warfare instead of capturing everything and ruining our economy. One city then wait for peace.

Sounds pretty risky. Judging by my agenda for building in Auda Minor i should be nearing a finnish. Then i could build military to help our war effort/preparation. I don't think we should start preparations now though. But Maybe the end of this turn/Begining of the next.

Right I think we need to start maybe repositoning forces especially swords from around BW and Abydos. Its always good to think long term and this hould be our next military target.( if we go to war again)

This seems like a good idea, but I'm worried about the German army. Even if we re-position our troops to take Berlin, I would still want 5 or so units defending our borders. Also we should get an open borders agreement perhaps to scout them and see how many units they have approximately. After the 10 turns we would then cancel the deal. And possibly a few turns after that, we would declare war and take Berlin.

However, we must make a decision right away to get this plan going.

no need to decide right this minute. We can scout it out first and see whats there and even see it its a possiblity. This doesnt need to be polled its something to be discussed and considered while we gather more information. IF the Sow wants to move troops he can without a poll.

We dont need to close our borders until we attack..the AI does it to me all the time in my games. Close borders and attack on the same turn.

There is a legitament concern about the remainder of their Army. But remember we have been fostering a relationship with Russia for this very reason. We are not in a position to ask Russia to declare war yet as we have nothing to offer them.

Well I havent checked how they view each other. IF Russia has us ranked higher than we should be OK. But that is something to think about.

I tink Russia has a better relation with Germany. I think someone mentioned it in the Change in Relation thread. If we attack germany we will proboly get some "You attacked our friend" nonsence.

Still early yet, we dont have an economy to support it. I dont want to start a poll that may be seen as authority to stop fixing the economy.

Hmmm. I'm very dubious about this at the moment. We seem to have a better relation with Peter at the moment, but I think there are many problems. I don't think the Pyramids are worth it at the moment - they give us all Gov civics and a greater chance of getting a Great Engineer, but I don't think that outweighs a war.

We are behind Germany in the Power graph - I'd like a very thorough scout of Germany to see what they've got before we start. What if Bismarck decides we're weak and doesn't want to end the war after we conquer Berlin? Do we then have to switch to a war economy?

We are slowly putting our economy to rights and it will take quite a while yet. Bismarck has some resources (such as stone) that we might want to help build wonders (and get the GPP etc) and that would probably be easier via trade than conquest.

However, whatever the merits of my argument, I'd like us to scout Russia and Germany as soon as possible just to see what is happening.

I also would like to scout out Germany before taking action, however I am pro-war. In my past experiences the Pyrimads has always given me an edge, and has always helped me with the economy. Also I think this should be decided asap (well as soon as we have a decent scouting report) so we could further decide to trade away our great CoL for some measly HBR.

just remember this for elections..we have to stop making the mistakes of voting in people who did nothign to contribute the term before.

As for me it's a little strange idea, I rather don't attack another nation just to take one particular thing. But maybe it will be a profitable thing in this case.

Reconnaissance mission is already started ( WarChariot was sent to german territory ), so after we will know what sort of units does germany have and how many of then, we'll be able to discuss if we are able to do this. Remember that war is not only about taking one city and then hidding. If we start a war we must consider fighting for some time, and then having bed relations with our neighbour ( which may occur as another war with germany in the future ).

But as the Secretary of War, if the information gathered during the reconnaissance mission are going to be good, I would say that war is not a bad idea ;].
