Hey people
I would like to show you a game that I'm working on called Crest. The reason why I'm posting it on this forum is mainly because I think our game has some similarities in the gameplay experience with games such as Civilization that has heavy management focus, so I would like to know if this is a correct assumption I'm making or if I'm just wishing on a star.
It's a god game where you write commandments that your people will follow. As most god games there is no direct control; your people may rewrite your commandments or even forget them, their faith towards you will also shift based on if they feel you are a positive or a negative force upon their society. One of our most important aesthetic goals during the design process was to try and make the player feel as if he/she is experiencing a history of the people while playing, but being a very management-happy player myself it was my intention to try and make it appeal to 'my' kind of players as well - because to me there is definite management potential in our game. The big difference is that there is no end-goal in Crest, you are free to express yourself and choose your own goals, and that our game has very complex systems with simple controls - forcing the player use a more 'broad strokes' approach to solving a perhaps more delicate problem.
What we have now is just a prototype, but it should be able to give a general idea of what we want the game to be. If you are intrigued you can play the prototype on these sites:
Game Jolt
Itch
IndieDB
So, I hope some of you will find it interesting, I am very keen in hearing any feedback of whatever sort and how your gameplay experience was.
