Crossfire: How to find the new factions in game?

Hi

I was lucky to get Alpha Centauri and the Addon Alien Crossfire. Already had a good game as Gaia and conquered the huge map of planet some time ago.

I have now a question about Alien Crossfire. When I choose to play Alien Crossfire and come to the screen where I choose the faction I want to play there are 2 menus. One is for the old factions and one for the new ones. Because I was still into Gaia and didn´t tested the other factions already I choosed Gaia again. In my game now I already met the Hive and the Spartans. But in my menu at the bottom of the screen with all the statistics which faction is the best etc. there are still just the names of the old factions shown.

I now have a bad idea: Can I just meet the new factions if I choose one new faction from the addon before starting the game? Is it impossible to play one of the old factions from the main Alpha Centauri and meet the new ones in the game?

Yes you can mix and match old factions with new ones. I think if you have one of the progenitors you have to have the other, but I'm not exactly sure on that. Otherwise, mix them up as you please.

If the factions are random, yes having one alien race will force another. But otherwise you can manually set all the factions, and just have one alien faction present.

When you reach the screen labeled "CHOOSE YOUR FACTIONS", there should be a downward pointing arrow at the right of each listed faction. Click an arrow and you should get a drop-down list that shows all the factions, including the ones from Alien Crossfire. At this point, select whichever faction you like.

Go into the faction editor,(facedit)and go to load faction, tye sid, or brian, and click add to game, and you'll be able to play as Sid Meier.

Thanks to you all! I didn´t saw these pull down menu first but now I found it. Haha its funny that its also possible to have 7 of tge same faction for example 7 gaians on one map haha.

Just one real last question: Why it is not possible to play for example just with 2 other cultures like in Civ 2? I mean on the start is there really every time 7 factions in the game or can I lower it?

you can have that only in a scenario.
