I just started my first game with cruel pacing and i must say besides the years counter beeing off it feels way more polished this way.
In my last game on duel/Prince it felt off with normal pacing since I easily ended up with techs only taking one or two turns at most.
While the amount of techs sorts of make up for it it greatly diminsihed the value of a single tech choice and also diminished the value of great scientists and research agreements.
My current game on king/tiny/22 civs/41 city states feels way more natural. While techs take long the fact that you get a tech once 5 others have reserached it it elivates a lot of the pain of the larger turns amount to.
The start might be actually cruel i agree after something like turn 500 which you reach within like an hour or two at max it feels way more balanced this way!
Kudos to the mod devs!
*bows*
Edit: Health, Money and even happiniess are also bigger valued since especially in early game these things are tight since you dont have as much social policies and improvements early on.
