Cruise missles in my mod...

What do you like to be tweaked with cruise missles in ModS?

  • Add them some range and leave them movable

Well, I have mod, ModS (you may download it from modpacks section if you want, but you don't have to do so to answer this poll, so, plz, everyone answer :) ), and I was tweaking cruise missles much. I think current cruise missles doesn't seems to be really worth the shields. They are too costly and too small range. So, I come up to several decitions: one is to make them longer range (not so much; it was so in ModS 0.5), second is to make range much longer, but disallow moving and leave them for defense only, third is what is now in ModS 0.6, range is 4 and it is possible to rebase missles like planes, but not move. It is good for gameplay, but not realistic (how missles could fly from one city to another?). First is also not realistic, perhaps second would be more realistic, but actually cruise missles are for offense, not defense. I would like to make them "tactical missles", being launched from nuclear subs, but then sub only could carry one missle (or if I would increase that, they could also carry more nukes) and that also makes cruise missles not so valuable.

So, state your opinion plz :) .

My english is not so good, so, I will explain what option 3 means (you may not understand...) it means give range such as 10 but remove movement and rebase ability (in other words, make it like ICBM, only with limited range).
 
have a look at reality:

Cruise missile can
1) be transported by land, air, sea
and
2) be shot from land, air, sea vessels

Adding range would be simple but one cannot transport them over sea that way.
Say we don't need to simulate cruise missiles shot by airplanes cause this is reflected by bombers anyway.

But what I definitely want to have is: cruise missiles on DESTROYERS, BATTLESHIPS, and SUBMARINES!

And I want them being treated like a land unit as well. Cruise missiles can be transported by trucks (or whatever) into the target area. One should be able to put them in any desired land square to fire on enemy units violating the range perimeter.

So they have to be something like an attack helicopter. And they have to have the ability being transported by warships!

What I did in my own mod for the cruise missile are as follow :

1) Increase their range to 8 (A city radius is all ready 4 and Firaxis is telling me that a cruise missile can only be shoot for one city to the city next to it :mad: )

2) Increase the bombardment strenght to 20. Now it can finally sink an Ironclad :goodjob: While it still can't sink a battleship in one hit, at least it can sink an ancient iron clad!! ;)

3) Make it have rebase ability. While I know that give alot of advantages, I am ok as both AI and me get it!!

4) Make it a tactical missile so that it can be carried on a nuclear sub.

5) Make AEGIS cruiser can carry tactical missle and have them carry the cruise missile to enemy shore (Not that useful actually as the cruise missle still cannot kill enemy unit. But this can be a good defense for the battlegroup enroute as it can weaken those enemy battleship)
