Crusades Scenario/Minimod (work-in-progress)

first post edited (units especially). Progress report up.

Ill post some images of the map really soon!

Looks good. I would reccomend changing the Byzantine UU's though. By this time the Byzantine navy wasnt that great (their fleet was smaller than most other Mediterainian countries, but they have Greek Fire, it balences out). In addition, Cataphracti didnt exist anymore except for the personal guard of the Emperor. Cataphracti had be part of the Imperial Tagmata, which had been all but destroyed at Manzikert. Latin Knights and Vardarotai(excellent mercenary horse archers) would work well. Everything else looks good.

@Ajidica - Perhaps the dromons could have a much higher build cost than galleys? and I guess I will change the cataphract to the Vardarotai then.

The map from global view. If you want a close-up, please just ask.

EDIT: Photos slightly out-of-date

Feedback would be much appreciated. Also, am i correct with the placing of irakloin?

To the extent of my knowledge, Iraklion is in the correct spot. IIRC, Iraklion was the Venetian name for the city, I'll have to find the Byzanitne name. My only problem with the map is that it goes to far south. You can trim off tiles with a map editor (not worldbuilder).

I assume that there will be more cities and that the marked ones are only the big ones?

I had the map go so far south because I wanted to include mecca (islam holy city) and suakin (african red sea port). I could trim some off, but i think it is fine now. Also, the fact that there is no wbsave editor for mac (that I know of) it would be really difficult. (it took me hours to make the map the shape it was on a blank map...)

The cities on there are the cities I have so far. I would like to add some more, particularly in turkey. Any ideas would be appreciated.

About the WBS Editor: Sorry, I forgot you were on a mac (despite username).
For cities:
I would reccomend checking out the Byzanium mod a made a while ago in the Scenario forum. It is Warlords and no dll or python changes. All the ciy names there are acurate as far as I can tell. (I cheated a bit for the Slavs, Germans, and Moors, but the middle east and asia minor are accurate.)

sure, that's ok. and thanks for the info on the cities! and are there any cities in these areas you can think of?

I was wondering if i should include judaism as a religion. I know it wasn't a major religion in the crusades, but perhaps I should keep it for historical accuracy? and are there any other religions i should include? should I include religions at all?

also, first post updated.

Personaly, I wouldnt include Judaism. I would keep it as a non-buildable building as requirements for some buildings and effects. The other major religions you should have are:
Sunni Islam
Shiite Islam
Orthodox Christianity
Catholic Cristianity

If you want you can include Syrian Christianity (slightly different from Orthodox as they disagree on whether the will of Christ was divine or mortal, and which energies it had.) or Armenian Christianity (I dont know the difference form Orhtodox, I think Armenia didnt want to be dominated by the Byzantines.) I know less about other Muslim schisms.

yeah. I was thinking of splitting the two religions into four, but i wasn't sure if the time period was right, or if they were major enough. I dont think i will include those others though. two of the same religion is enough!
