CTD problems

I'm having pretty severe CTD problems, my average session time is rougly 5min. I've tried old drivers, the most recent drivers, turning graphics down, sound off, etc. I went throught the "fix it list" and followed it pretty faithfully...I've played around a lot with RivaTuner (pixel/vertex shaders) and so on. The game runs very well (for as long as it does), and I've never made it far enough into any one game for map size to become a problem. I'm happy to provide info such as logs, dxdiag, etc if that'll help. I've been searching around on the forums for several weeks now without anything helping. Ideas would be *greatly* appreciated. Thanks!

System rig:
Athlon XP 3200+
512M ram
eVGA nVidia GeForce 6600GT 128M
Onboard realtec AC97 sound
Gigabyte 7N400S-L mainboard

post your dx diag file please.

Hi Rwalrus,

IT is just a ctd. not a freeze or random reboot?

Just ctd, correct. I was getting reboots, but traced it to RAM problems. Just CTD, not dependent on graphics/sound problems or tied to specific occurences/events w/in the game.

ati to nvidia.

Hmm.

Okies well go to ati site and down load their driver cleaner.

Remove the graphics driver and reboot into plain ole vga.

dont let it auto select a driver.

run ati driver cleaner.

reboot into safe mode and load the latest nvidia driver.

reboot and try again.

This time set your appeture size to match the ram on your card.

Turn off fastwrites, vysnc, and write combine.

set your agp to 4x. start with no aa at first.

Play from medium graphic settings within the game.

If that dont work post again, but dont change any of those settings.

I've done this, no trace of ATi drivers remain, latest nVidia drivers loaded.

My bios appears to be missing a setting for aperature size...or is this a setting I can find elsewhere?

Will do. Thanks.

Every bios is different. Try looking under advanced chip set features.

If not, Riva tuner might let you do that. It lets you change alot of settings for your card as well as underclock/overclock too.
