I would like to request the release of CTP under the Civ4 engine.

I would also like to see RFC for CTP.

CTP is my favorite for several reasons.

It does not crash on huge map with every civ in the late game with a thousand units.

It has only one big flaw: Electricity from goodie huts.

It is funner than colonization At least i think so. we all have our own opinions.

It is a "bigger game" than civ because of the underwater colonies. Sky colonies did suck but the advancement into underwater colonies is just as plausable as the space elevator.

It would be great with CIV: 4 engine because the engine of Civ 4 would be a perfect mesh for the complexity of CTP.

Civ4 needs a REAL future era not just one mini-stage advancement in the tech tree, but CTP has a few eras that add real element to the future from the AI Singularity to Terra-morphing to astronaut skydive attackers.

I know there are many better reasons than the ones above but i am so desperate i can't think of any, and while i know you probably don't want to deal with the corporate issues of it, CTP is a great game. I am suprised nobody has made a CTP mod yet, but that probably wouldn't be approved.

I know it has it's flaws but those things would be fixable with the Civ4 engine. Most of the things that were flawed in implementation can be placed in correctly.

LASTLY, the building of a palace, to a city, to a space station in the rewards was special and Civ4 seems to have forgotten this legacy of achievement you feel to see your space station city.

Units, techs and wonders would be pretty straight forward to adabt but I'm not sure if it's possible to mod space and sea colonies to Civ4 engine. Also Public works system could be tricky as well. And even if you did manage to get in somehow, getting AI to use them would also be tricky.

This was posted over at that other Civilization site. Maybe you can lobby them for a third CTP? :D

Activision Blizzard Merger

This week Call to Power publisher Activision finalised a merger deal with Vivendi Games (which among others includes the critically acclaimed and highly successful studio Blizzard Entertainment) to form a new company called Activision Blizzard. The deal, which was formally closed on July 9th after 8 months of negotiations between the parties involved, makes Activision Blizzard the world's largest game publisher, responsible for franchises like Call of Duty, Diablo, Guitar Hero, Quake, Spiderman, StarCraft, Tony Hawk, (World of) Warcraft, Wolfenstein and countless others. It also places additional pressure on the now second largest game publisher in the world Electronic Arts who've been trying to take over Take-Two Interactive (owner and publisher of the Civilization franchise) in recent months in a $2b bid.

This event also reunites former CtP programmers Joe 'Mr Ogre' Rumsey and David 'Pyaray' Ray, who are now working on the World of Warcraft franchise for Blizzard, with their former employer. Thanks to Peter Triggs for the heads-up on this news.

It's a cool idea and I wouldn't mind it, but I don't think it'll happen, at least not without having to draw more from Civ 4 than CTP. Reduce the civ list, perhaps drop space cities, but I personally liked the idea of claiming orbital stations around the planet, consider a revised PW system, then put in all the best concepts of Civ 4, then maybe the game will be, but I suppose we'll all see.
