Anyone know if there is or ever will be a CTP 3 in the works? Because that would be really sweet. If there's not maybe we can get enough people on this thread to 'encourage' the production of such a game.

damint, I wish I was a computer science student... or knew more programming languages either then *VB*, lol. If I would, I would start programming my own interpretation of what CTP3 should look like.....starting with making it 3D! lol, just kidding.......or am I?!! :crazyeye:

I know almost nothing about SLIC, let alone C++, but im working on rebalancing the game in several areas. Im sure you could find a use for yourself. ;)

Well I don't know, I am kind of evil, and I am a big fan of realism, so I would think of ways that empires in history used theri tactics(and sadly sometimes evil) to conquer...

But I have a simple wishlist....
-Make space plateforms(so it acts as a road,etc)...
-Make like a gambling/tourism platform in space so it mostly gives you *lots* of gold
-Make nature a lot MORE DEVASTATING(mother nature's got some bones to pick with us) like in SMAC(w/Exp) where the fungous becomes more hostile when you become very industrious(love that)..

But anyway, if you need any opinions, im here, and I got lots of'em ;)

I don't think there will ever be a CTP3. Activision made 1 and 2, but needed the rights of "Civilization" and Atari/Infogrames c.q. Firaxis bought it back.

Either Activision has to rebuy it (very unlikely) or Firaxis should want to make a third CTP. But Firaxis has said they're already working on Civ4.

Ehrr... Firaxis just owns the rights of the 'Civilization' title, not the rights of the 'Call to Power' title. Activision can do with the 'Call to Power' title whatever it wants, it's theirs.

But anyway, any sequel to CtP2 is bound to come from Apolyton, not Activision :)

yep. now with the source code in the hands of the mod community, i believe we'll see interesting things in the future... :)

... Is it done yet? :D

Nope, but you should try some of the mods for it. They really improve the game with the better AI. Right now I play Medium on Cradle Mod with lots of barbarians. :king:

There should be some sort of "Global Disasters" list in the Cheats, allowing you to inflict massive damage to all civilizations without knowing the ultimate result. On the harder levels of the game, these global disasters would occasionally happen unannounced - maybe once per game, at a random turn.

The specific disasters could include:

Giant impact (continent-wide fires, mass extinction, cosmic winter etc);
Supervolcano (similar global winter, lots of pollution, huge lava flows);
New ice age (glaciers expand, sea level drops, farmlands lost)
Alien invasion (superadvanced barbarian-type units appear everywhere);
GM virus breakout (populations crash in all civs, many cities deserted);
Geopocalypse (gigantic earthquakes worldwide: most cities flattened, random terrain changes, social breakdown leads to barbarian proliferation).

I thought of trying to write some such utility for CTP2, but I haven't the time or expertise. Any thoughts, folks?

Wow, I definetely agree with you, let me help you out by putting some of my ideas.

False Nuclear Warning - When the turn begins, the military advisor will say that they detected a incoming Nuclear/ICBM but there might be a chance its a equiment failure thats giving this warning... and its the players choice on whether to launch a pre-emtive nuclear strike... or treat it as a false warning... but either way, the there should be a 50/50 chance that the enemy computer might or might not send a nuclear attack...

Space Elevator Breaks - From the host city, in any random direction, it will destroy any cities in its 35,000-kilometer path. And the orbital platform(city) will cause a mini-asteriod disaster on earth.

Genocyber - The most powerfull nation in the game creates it...well... a evil corparation/agency within its nation does. What the genocyber is.... is a superpowerfull human unit gon berserk, that pledges no alligence to any nation and goes and destroys any major cities within its line of site. This unit is practicly invinable and obliterates the cities it conquers, and destroys any tiles within its path towards the city. If no nation manages to destroy it, it dies within 20 turns...... oh, the only way to destroy it is to nuke it at least 50 times...by any civilation...

Bulterian Jihad - This will percipitate in the city that built the "A.I. Entity". If the intelligent machines overthrow the human/computer player, then they create their own civilization. It will only exist within that city, it will be renamed "01". And all civilizations will be at war with this machine city. This machine city will send out mutlple powerfull armies every turn....nukes don't work on their city.... The only way possible to stop these cybernetic menece is to have mutl-nations ally with the human to destroy it.... and even that might not be enough ;)

;) Just like in The Animatrix, yes? Once your 01 civ had captured a good few cities, might it then build "The Matrix" as a new Wonder, based on a technology available only to it? This wonder would give 01 a tremendous production and food (energy) boost. I suppose the surviving human civs' goal would be to capture The Matrix, freeing the people within it and depriving 01 of its power.:goodjob:

haha, yup! Im glade that you watched the animatrix and recognized the idea :) .Although naming it: "Butlerian Jihad", is actually tooken from the book *Dune*. Butler was this guy that philosphsized that machines are surpassing human superiority rapidly and its essential for the survival of the human race to overthrow these cybernetic monsters know as machines..... good philosophy to adapt since the galaxy is at war with the machines ;) .. Kinda' like the matrix

Two rocks w/ one stone

Oh...and GenoCyber.... thats actually a horrifically violent anime series, I wouldn't recommend that unless you love anime like me. It has a interesting storyline though, global peace is acheived, the human race is somewhere in the nano-age and then a powerful oligarchic corparation creates a powerful military unit... which tipes the balance of military superioirty...... oh and did I mention that it goes berserk???!?! LOL

I once had a global warming catastrophe which flooded the city in which I'd built the Star Ladder; the computer reported that Wonder as destroyed, but the space city it had established remained intact.

Really?.... Interesting

Anyway, tell me about the progress that you acheive with this global catastrophe remix-thing, I am very impressed with your ideas. Especially with: "New ice age" one ...

I fear it might be a while, Bart - or never. My experience and time for programming is limited. Do you know much about SLIC?
