CTP was a disappointment

I don't HATE CTP, but I prefer the "real" CIV games. I have recently brought out my old CTP1 CD (I never bought CTP2), and have been playing it. I think that my biggest complaint is all of the units that have special attacks that can affect your cities with out declaring war, e.g. corporations, lawyers, televangelists, etc. It is really frusterating when you have to keep asking them to leave. I'd rather just have open warfare than all of that.

Have the CTP2 fans even played the original? I did, and it was so bad that I didn't even bother with buying the second one. A few people recommend mods, but most mods are for future units and new techs, and have very little emphasis on actual game balance.

Is a modded CTP2 worth my $50?

when i first bought it I was the same way, but over time it grew on me, now its awsome:king:
