Cultural Discussion- Timing of Wonders

An important question is when we want to start working on wonders, what level of advancement, civilization size, status, etc. I, as Minister for Culture, post this on behalf of the people.

Personally, I think that we should start a wonder as soon as possible, so long as there is no real threat to us. Any wonder's cultural benefit is too be welcomed, especially one as important as the Great Library, and the growth benefits of the Pyramids are desireable as well.

Any one else have anythoughts?

As we have only some wine and some gems next by, and that I see the Great Library and Pyramid prponents continuing to the bitter end, yes we even have a riot in Japanatica, I can only consider this biased opposition as a direct rejection of Monarchy.
Japan, a religious civ, will benefit greatly from the Oracle, cheap temples and the opportu nity for an early created, peaceful golden age may be in place. Immo, with all that food, will easily go to 12 Pop WITHOUT monarchy- Imagine all the cultural wonders we can create if we allow our cities to grow that big, and not harming research by adding the luxury slider. The riots in Fanatikku is actually demonstrations against the recommended wonders from the Cultural Ministry.

Personally, with what I know, I think it's safe to say that we're on either a Continent or a Pangaea.

EDIT: What I know, was obviously not based on the recent save, wherein we are on a Continent-sized Island. So Hanging Gardens, IMO, is now... neutered.

And we would not benefit much from Pyramid, but that won't matter.


I'd say: Wait a while. Let our production get up to speed. Once that happens, we can nab Sistine and give our 80-Shield Cathys some real juice.

If we Really need a wonder soon, I'd go with The Great Lighthouse. It would allow us Sea-faring, denying it to a Rival Civ. Thus, we can control Trade and Contacts, giving us the advantage, even if we don't get Great Library.

But still, make sure we have our homeland secure first before we go chasing cascades.
