cultural groupings question

sorry. another stupid question alert.....


....ive just started a new game, and the rivals civs so far are from the same cutural group, i.e. Asia.

For instance, Im the Ottomans, and the Japanesse, Babylonians, Chinese and Arabs are the civs Ive encounted so far. This happens quite frequently with me.

is it coincidence or am i totally stupid and didnt realise about this??

when you choose your civ and difficulty, in the same box as the victory optons thereis a 'culturally linked startign location' or somethign similar option. make sure its off.
thsi option means that you start nearer to civs in the same culture group as you, which is whats happening. havign it unchecked makes it completely random and so any link then woudl be coinidence.
