culture levels and wonder limit

I was reading some posts here and came across someone saying that once a city reaches its maximum cultural level you should be able to build ~12 world wonders in that city ...
Is that still the case?

Im asking this cause in my game, my capital got past influential (now at impressive level) but both my national wonders and world wonders limit stopped increasing. Currently both my national and world wonders limit is at 7 per city apparently.
I think that with the amount of wonders in this mod (and more being added), that limit is just too low.

Can someone point me to the file that controls the limit? I couldn't find it myself, changing the max wonders value in global defines made no difference.

There is an option for Unlimited Wonders when you start a game

However things can get out of hand

From my current game, where I jumped out to a huge tech lead and have never looked back. And this is on Immortal.

Id say this city is putting out some research...

Unlimited wonders its like cheating and i dont like to cheat.
I want to have a limit but i feel that the current limit should be higher. That's why i would like to raise the limit and not disable it entirely.

Ideally i would like to have a 10-12 wonders per city ... Im capped at 7 right now and i hate it.

I personally think there should be no limit. On lower AI levels it could be a crutch, and on higher AI levels it could be a disadvantage (because the AI in theory would be the one benefiting). Also if you have a city with a ton of wonders I would think every AI would be plotting to take it from you.

But right now the Immortal AI isnt up to the task. Which is understandable due to the hugeness of the mod, how complex everything is, and how often its updated.

With the limit, the key is planning (not building marginal wonders just because you can, this game has a metric asston of those) and having numerous cities with good production for them.

Well i too think that normally there should be no limit. It just doesn't make sense having some magical limit that, obviously, limits you to build wonders, BUT, to be fair to the ai, having a limit gives the ai a fighting chance.

At the moment, as far as i know, the ai doesn't take wonders into his calculations when it comes to war so having a lot wonders in a city doesn't make any difference for the ai thus having unlimited wonders is like cheating.
Its fairly easy to build more wonders than the ai (im taking about difficulties up to immortal, i haven't played deity).

However, i do have a further question.
I did change those values from global defines myself but it had no effect in my game ...

Do global defines changes affect games in progress? (i thought they did).

Otherwise it might be possible that i edited the wrong values but i doubt it, there aren't many ''global defines'' files around ...

Agreed on this.

I think part of the issue is religion wonders, because there are a lot of awesome ones.

Its a tricky spot, because being restricted to one religion isnt fun. And i find i cant resist the Divine Prophets option, which is probably the single cheesiest setting imaginable. And I know Im not alone in that I find it fun.

I also know there is work being done with religious disabling, not sure where that's at. But even that is tricky. King Richard's crusade shouldnt be spitting out crusaders if Ive switched to Buddhism. But If I build 15 different temples, I should at least be getting the culture for all of them. I have some thoughts I plan on putting into a separate thread about religion eventually.
 
Please put the limits for National Wonders back on. I have six available slots minimum in any city with only about three NWs available to build total! :mad:

What? I don't get this, you are saying that you can build 6 Nat wonders but only got 3 in your build list or ... ?

If that's the case then may i ask you what era you are on and what's your city cultural level?
