I've thought it might be neat for every civ to have a flagship it can send into battle, like real historical flagships such as the HMS Victory or the um... well, I'm not much of a history buff.
A civ is allowed only 1 (naval) flagship at any time, which is basically the same unit type (frigate, battleship, etc.) but with the leadership promotion - gains twice the xp - and a unique "aura" type of promotion. By that I mean this promotion would function similarly to the medic promotion. The flagship could provide a +10% attacking and defending strength to all other naval units within 3 tiles.
The unit would either obsolete once a technologically superior naval unit has been constructed, or upgrade free to the new type. It would probably cost 20% more hammers, and there might be applications for land or air units, but I have to consider the terminology.
The AI would probably not know how to use this type of unit.
Anyhow I'm just interested to find out how much of this is feasible without getting into some brain-destroying mathematics and python scripting.
Well, hopefully someone else who is talented thinks it's as good of an idea as I do.
