Cyber Nations

Direct Democracies and totalitarian states don't merge well, unless one side gives up their political beliefs and fully accepts the others.

From what I read in IOOF constitution it's not even close to totalitarian.

Besides, civver unity is important imho. ;)

Agreed, as I see it the governmental choices of others should have little bearing on us. I find honor, loyalty, and friendship 1000% more important than lofty concepts like Freedom, or Democracy.

The Emperor of the Imperial Order Of Firaxis is the Head of State and, for the most part, Head of Government of the Order. He has full authority over the government and members of the Order. The Emperor also appoints the Ministers and makes the official announcements on the Cyber Nations forums. At times of absence, the Chancellor takes over for the Emperor.

The founding principles of OF (or whatever were going to call it  ) are loyalty to Freedom, Direct Democracy, and the cause of the people; and to honor that loyalty at all times. Friendships can be fully formed in a state of Freedom because fear, which easily turns to distrust, is not required of the populace in a Free state. Of course, we are loyal to the people's cause and are therefore loyal to the people, which makes friendship neccessary.

PAH! I finally got a new iron/wheat trade partner ealier this week ,and then he cancelled it this morning since he is getting involved with a trade ring! Geez, thanks, it took me 5 days to get that trade. Good thing I don't need to collect for several days anyways as I don't have time to find a new trade until Tuesday.

Finding trades is the most tedious thing in the game. I've lost two of my trades recently and it's pretty much crippled me as I'm in the middle of war.

Oh, how ironic. :)

I am thinking of starting this game because the civvers alliance is breaking up in Astro Empires. Tell me, what is the CFC organization, and is there really any point in starting since us newcomers will be at a distinct disadvantage to those of you who've been playing for a year already?

Bluemofia, how does this game compare to astroempires? Which do you like better, and why?

Oh, I like AE better. There are more tactical and strategic roles that the ships and the buildings/astros fill than the fairly generic CN. CN sort of has a builder mentality, while AE is more combat oriented.

No, I was just looking at the possibilities. I will stay with AE, because I don't have time to play both.

I play both really. CN has its benefits. But the only time CN really heats up is just before and just after server time 00 hour. (attacks are most effective here) Thus you won't worry too much during off hours about getting hit, but there is very little counterattack capabilities. It's pure random. The tactics are fairly simple; 2 CM strikes, 2 bombing runs, 2 land attacks, 2 land attacks, 2 bombing runs, 2 CM strikes in that order. Then there's the manipulation of the Defcon levels that most people already realize. You can usually get by without knowledge of too much of the politics.

AE tends to be more of an anytime goes, but obviously that tethers you to the computer during a massive war. But it's really nice hitting at around 2 or 3 in the morning (US time), where there are very little players. I often did so during the NPO vs Borg war, especially debris stealing from people. Also, counter-attacks are very very effective if you are online at the same time as the opponent is, for many of their strategies revolve around a sleeping opponent. Otherwise the defender usually can counter the deadly fighter swarms by pulling their fighters and weak ships out, and let the big guns smear their fighters, and strike their carriers and recyclers as they rebase nearby. Also, politics is key. It tends to suck when you come back and half of your bases are occupied, your fleet is down 40%, and your opponents already stole the debris.

Yeah, tech is insanely valuable now. Althoguh it will be unbalaln ced for a while since many people already got their 60 level 9 planes and now that it takes 500 tech to be able to buy them, it will be unfair but after a few battles it will balance out.

If I knew they were upping the cost, I would have bought more planes when I could. But I didn't...

In many ways the new value of tech for war and spies means it shoudl carry a higher NS contribution... ironic.
