When landing a large fighting force on an enemy continent, make sure your first transport ship has a settler on board, land him first then build a city. Move the transports into the city, then all your other units arrive with full movement points.

1 transport, 8 tanks, = maximum of 8*2 = 16 attacks on turn one
1 transport, 1 settler, 7 tanks = max 7*3 = 21 attacks on turn one,

It can make a big difference, even more so with Howies.

Or land the spy first, buy an existing port city, buy the partisans, and have even more attacks! :D

Tis a good plan.Better with engineers though :p

IIRC it was originally called the Hong Kong strategy. Not real sure why.

Wouldn't building a city early leave one at the tender mercies of a strong AI? I would hate to risk him grabbing some juicy tech from a partially secured city.

While it requires 2 engineers , I still prefer forts mopre often. Although, giving it some thought, if I had a chance to link into a rail network with one or two full transports, this would be much better.

I ussally get a few trasports, load them with marines and tanks and maybe one howirizer, maybe a spy. I have maybe 5 destroys and 2 battleship attacking the enemy cities. I might have two aircraft carrriers, loaded with bombers, maybe 2 fightes use those after the naval attack on units oin the growned. Then finally land my men, blizcreg the coast line the move inward from all derections.
