Looks like it will run April 21st through May 16th, with the following challenges:

Chapter 1:
Science and Industry: Own a city netting over 1000 Industry and 1000 Science per turn
Machines of War: Destroy the fortifications on 10 tiles during the same game.
Flight of Birds: Own a Biplane as an Early Modern Era Culture.

Chapter 2:
Live with Passion: Max out all 4 Ideology Axis, on either side.
Eternal City: Own a city with Cultural Wonders from all six eras
La Serenissima: As Venetians, trigger the Science End Condition

I suppose by these standards I was already leading a pretty passionate life... In general, the only ones that appear much of a grind are Machines of War, where for whatever reason I anticipate counting shenanigans, and Eternal City, a possible case of "absorb thine neighbor."

There will be a customary symbol/decoration/persona award and you can start today. For the original post, check out https://www.games2gether.com/amplit...gs/812-the-davinci-event-and-vitruvian-update.

Flight of Birds: Own a Biplane as an Early Modern Era Culture.
So this one is only achievable with the Joseon? Why then "an Early Modern Era Culture", when the would have been more appropriate?
And then La Serenessima can't be done within the same game.
Unless you make a save at a bifurcation of the timeline and take one branch only to the Flight of Birds, and then come back to the main one for the Serenissima :)
Eternal City seems to cause no problems to get naturally on Nation difficulty, without absorptions.

I didnt try it yet but from the wording I guess you can just transcend with any early modern culture until you own a biplane.

I did all in one game, so you can do the biplane with Venice. Just transcend.
I wish one of them would have been a tad harder to get. Maybe doubling the science/industry while limiting the number of attached territories or something like that - would have been much more difficult to pull of with Venice then.

Ah yes, you're probably right. Oh, well, too late for me, half an hour wasted due to acting sooner than thinking
But then again, seeing that Serenissima makes you to pick Venetians for the rest of the game anyway, the Flight of Birds then is only about 'remember to get a biplane'?

I have never had any trouble using mods with the events so far. That said, if you run into an issue, please share.

If you nuke a walled city, will it count towards the destroyed fortifications achievement? I wasn't much into modern warfare before and now I discovered that field guns do even more damage to the walls on the tactical map than siege artillery, and a fortification tile requires multiple hits by them to be destroyed. Otherwise, a hit from a missile cruiser to a weaker unit behind walls killed the unit and one-shot those walls too, but if the tile does not have a hostile unit on it, the cruiser cannot shoot just the walls. So I just want to nuke everything at this point. Technically, a nuke is a machine of war, isn't it?

Also, Science End is not the Mars mission? Is it reaching the final techs then?

Not sure about your nuke question. I destroyed fences with battering rams (just one attack needed) and did the rest with ships. It‘s a bit annoying early on as the enemy often sorties before you build the siege equipment, but the ships worked nicely.

regarding the science end question: you need the last 5 techs, not the Mars mission or all techs. I don‘t like the last era much, so I always just beeline for the last 5 once I enter this era (the sequence in which to unlock them can be very influential though).

It looks like the nukes worked for the Machines of War. The drawback is that you apparently have to have vision on targets, so the satellite projects must be launched before. But still, no need then to worry too much about siege engines or other big guns before that.

And yes, the game at the end slows down to a crawl due to a lot of things to render, and the UI is barely responsive, so I also look to spend the least possible time there. Anyway, all done now :)

I got the fort destruction cheevo with air raids so that might be an option worth investigating.

I uh, also apparently started making a lot of pollution with all the Aerodromes I was putting down, and that really bit me in the arse.

So.. is there any way I can tell which era each cultural wonder comes from? I've done all of the challenges except this one; the game claims that I've only gotten 5 of 6 wonders in one city at a time, but it's not clear which era I'm missing from each time.

I think this gets confusing with the last two eras as they only have three wonders per era when the previous ones have at least four. Might be possible you built a second industrial wonder instead of a modern one?

You can check by looking at the influence cost of the wonder as an eras wonders are all priced the same.

So, in typical Saxo fashion took a break to entertain visiting family, caught a cold (tested negative), and then managed to hammer out the whole thing this afternoon. I forgot how easy it was to destroy fortifications with artillery. The greatest lag was underestimating the sheer number of research quarters/volume of science to achieve a science victory on Blitz.

Most surprising? They weren't kidding about scaling up the Aesthete bonus. I took Mauryans thinking I might get a little influence boost toward wonders, but the affinity ability netted anywhere from 120 to 1080 influence with numerous regions at 480 :wow: That was enough for me to settle over half the landmass, absorb an Independent People, and found new cities, all with thousands of influence left in the wonder treasury. Might be a good idea to tone that down...

Ideally, I would achieve some of the challenges through routine gameplay. That said, I quite enjoyed the immersive run-through as Da Vinci's military-industrial complex, or that ole Venetian Arsenal I suppose... Hopefully future challenges will balance ease of regular play with this immersive campaign style.
