Dad jokes tech quotes

It’s not just that the tech quotes in Civ VI are silly, it’s that some are distinctly negative and cynical, criticizing the very tech you just researched.
Absolutely right! I couldn't agree more.

Ruhr Valley is just head scratching in that regard. Really makes you wonder if they actually read them before just copy pasting from google. You can almost hear Sean Bean's puzzlement as he reads it.

I found a better, albeit a short one in five seconds using the very same search engine-turned-worldstrangling hydra.

"The best or nothing at all" - Gottlieb Daimler

Someone way back in Vanilla VI days referenced a bunch of the quotes to the first entries in Wikipedia entries on the subjects. Which means, to me, that the quotes were an Afterthought, given no real consideration or resources and tossed together because the Civ Games have always had Quotes.
Given the amount of energy they used on parts of the game that they screwed up royally (interaction between Production/Cost, Diplomatic Victory and World Congress, etc, etc ad nauseam) it's not surprising that they'd also bungle the relatively minor stuff (that doesn't directly affect game play) as well . . .

I like to quote my Civ4's favorite ones (that are also very educative!!):

Hunting: "If you chase two rabbits, you will lose them both"
Fishing: "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."
Mathematics: "If in other sciences we should arrive at certainty without doubt and truth without error, it behooves us to place the foundations of knowledge in mathematics"
Military Tradition: "Victorious warriors win first and then go to war while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win" (my absolute favorite one)

With this trajectory I expect the quote for Political Philosophy in Civ 7 will be along the lines of

'The Greeks? They invented gayness'
- Father Ted

No, from the Greeks you have to use the best single description of War ever penned:

"In time of peace, sons bury fathers; In time of war, fathers bury sons." - Herodotus

Whoo-boy, if you think the tech quotes are bad try digging into the Civilopedia articles!

If you start and end, as they apparently did, with Wikipedia as your only source, you cannot expect to get through more than 3 entries before you are writing drivel.
