[Vanilla] Damaged App unable to reinstall

hi I'm using the App Store rather than Steam version of Civ VI and I am unable to redownload and reinstall the App (so I can buy GS in app) how might I achieve this?

Another trick is to delete the app from within the launchpad, which deletes all the preferences and hidden files in the user library folder.
Then reinstall from the mac app store, and there you go.
