Darklands

Darklands is the only RPG I have really enjoyed playing, unfortuneately it seems that the promised and long-hoped-for sequal will never come. So, I am wondering if anyone knows of a comparable game that is out there today.

Thanks for your reply Eli- but one of the things I liked about Darklands was that it was set in an historical period- (medevil Germany), and the premise of the game was that it was historically "accurate" or faithfull to the belifs of the times. Thus there are no artificial character classes- you have an occupation (or series of occupations) that influence your abilities. There is no use of magic by player characters- instead you can mix potions if you have knowledge of alchemy, or can pray to saints for help.
It also has a fairly flexible system of gameplay. You don't have to follow na particular plot if you don't want to.

What I am hoping for is a current game that is more along those lines.

Darklands is awesome! I'm playing it right now on my old laptop. It would be cool if they'd remake it for Windows, with all the bugs fixed.

Yup, downloaded it from (cough cough). Truly a game ahead of its time. Too bad Microprose is dead and can't update the game.

Is that the samn old Darkland i played back in 90's and yes it has Micro logo on it. I love that old game but its old and needed updated badly!

Any link or infos on this?
