Greetings,
i recently bought Civ 4 and i have some VERY strange error with it.
My System Configuration
2x 2,8 GHz Dual Xeon
1GB DDR ECC REG RAM
FX 5900 (Asus 9950)
SCSI (U320 as system drive)
at first i was able to play this game. All i was wondering about was the huge memory usage of the Civilization4.exe - my top is about 950 MB - but it was running. The ingame movies stuttered and the opponent turns were crazy long - it took me about 3 min to load a game. While playing the game it got slower and slower over the time. With the reaching of the year 1300 i got the craziest error a game ever gave me.
I got system messages saying that while writing to my system drive a write error occured. When i get this problem i am not able to do anything with the system beside shutting dow the process strucutre via task manager. If i try to start other progams or even access ANY of my drives i get the message that there are no system ressources available to do so.
After shutting down the process structre everything works fine again. Ofcourse i did a complete verifiy on my drives and my RAM - as expected NO ERRORS.
I have seen a lot of suggestions in this forum to test it with different gfx drivers.
So far i get the same error with all of these nvidia driver versions.
71.89_win2kxp_international.exe
78.01_winxp2k_international_whql.exe
81.84_winxp2k_32bit_international.exe
81.85_forceware_winxp2k_international_whql.exe
81.87_forceware_winxp2k_international.exe
after a lot of gfx driver swapping i have now reached a state were i cant play at all now. after the loading or new game screen i get now either a hangup and looping sound or just a CTD.
Any idea how i kill all old files of these drivers any list that could help me to get to atleast my previous super buggy state ?
