Declaration of Independence problem

I'm currently playing two different games, one as New England and one as the New Netherlands. With the latter, I have an overall revolution rate of 70%, with the former a rate of 53%. However, neither allows me to declare independence. The 'Start Revolution' button does not light up, even though the 50% threshold has been passed in both games. Is there anything I'm missing?

I assume you have the Independence victory condition turned on, correct? I think that controls whether declaring a revolution at 50% is available.

Are we talking about the same thing here? The green dot in the bar actually is not the button to push. I tried that for a couple of times as New Netherlands and rebellion scores over 70 %. Nothing happend.

It turns out (suprise to me anyway) the button is the area marked with the text "start revolution". Press that and a nice movie starts playing.

The purpose of the green dot appears to be to mark the critical 50 % score.

Doh, my stupid wrong.

I unintentionally unchecked the 'independence' victory condition. I'm starting a new game with it on, that should sort the problem. Thanks everyone, for the advice!
