I think the corruption system in the game is rther ridiculous, from both gameplay and strategic point of view. You cannot have a productive city on a different contient unless you are running communism. Even under democracy taht city will always be completely corrupted. I do not like the fact that, once my empire becomes a little bigger, communism becomes pretty much the only choice.

In the real world, it does not work that way, and it's pretty annoying in the game. What do you guys think of decreasing the overall level of corruption in the game? Problem is, it will make communism even stronger, and it does not need that. How have other people approached this problem?

I think the "point" of corruption from a gameplay standpoint is so that the power of a civ is not wholly dependent on the number of cities it has. Corruption is what allows a small, developed civ to compete with a larger civ. Without corruption, expansion and conquering are clearly the best ways to improve your civ. So that's why I think corruption is worthwhile.

But if you want to change it, the easiest way in the editor is probably to raise the optimal city number for all map sizes. Another way is to create several more small wonders like the forbidden palace. I know the Rise and Rule mod does this, and I've been able to create large empires with very little corruption even using governments with "rampant" corruption.
