Defense bonus

Hi vereyone:

I know that there is a defense bonus on mountains and, better, on hills. I think thare are other terrain types with defense bonus.
Some times a phalanx destroy a elephant and sometimes not, even if it's fortified. I think rivers had a defensive bonus too.

Yep. The defensize bonus of terrain is in the Civilopedia in the game.
Veterans get extra, fortresses add more, and certain unit abilities can double their defence (eg AEGIS, pikemen)

Mountains give a 200% bonus
Hills 100%
Forest 50%
Swamp 50%
Jungle 50%
River 50%

Veterans give a 50% bouns to attack and defense values.

A fortress can be built on any terrain (except water, obviously) and gives and extra 100%, plus it gives a stack of units extra portection because if they lose a combat only the one unit is killed, rather than the stack.
