Hi everyone,

I think the problem is familiar for people who tried to play multiplayer on network. I search the forum database and found some threads but the solution is unclear. Let me describe quickly what I am facing,

the moves of the units have lag when you try to command. It takes about 1-2 second to respond any unit, not only the units also the screens, windows, diplomacy screens, everything in the game is like a turtle.

How can I solve this delaying problem ? are there anyone still facing this ??

waiting your reply,

If you got router handling your home network it's usually the problem. There is no other clear answers

It happens with me too...

I guess that my 56k dial conection is the "problem" :p

A lot of times i did wrong moves w/ units because of the lag... For example: move a settler to east, and click on a warrior and move him north, but my settler moved north and the warrior is still stopped...

The unic way is to be patience and play Pbem or Turn Based games ;)

You can upgrade your ISP and only play with ppl with high speed internett.

I just played a game with 4 other 10mbits users, and yet there were still some lag. Thats just the way it is :(

I get this when playing MP Conquests 1.22 against another local PC or DirectIP via the internet. In both cases I am connecting via a Netgear DG834 ADSL Modem/ router.

My friend suggested that Civ may be trying multiple ports before it finds one that works. I may experiment opening up more ports.

I have the same issue even when connecting 2 PCs together on LAN with a crossover cable (ie no router involved).

Both machines 2GHz+ with 512Mb RAM.

I also noticed the host machine gets significantly more lag than the connecting machine.

I'm assuming that this is just how it is - someone please let me know if this isn't normal behaviour.
