Civ3 Complete: Regular Civ, Conquests (which includes PTW)

Conquests: 2nd expansion (includes Play the World)

PtW: 1st expansion

Your best bet if you don't have any civ games is to get Civ Complete. If you have regular civ, then all you need is Conquests. :)

Conquests *does* have a whole new set of civs that aren't in PTW, but the ones in PTW are also in C3C. Multiplayer was introduced in PTW, so it's also in C3C.

Anything that comes with PTW can either be downloaded from here (legally - like grpahics, scenarios, units), so C3C is your best choice.

You're welcome. :)

question.. which ones work witht he crusader joes (now whoever's) powerbar trainer

You'd best ask that question in the powerbar trainer thread. They could tell you quicker (probably) what versions of civ it works with.

it depends on if you have regular Civ3. if so, i say try to get PTW and C3C. PTW does have stuff C3C has. Tons of scenerios. But if you don't have regular Civ i recomend Civ3Complete, because you can't run PTW or C3C without regular...

He said for the scenarios that come with it. However, [most] all of the scenarios from PTW can be downloaded here at CFC in the Completed Scenarios, Graphics Modpacks, Modpacks, or Maps forum in the Creation and Customization forums. :)

All you should really get is just C3C though...

Before C3C came out, you got extra terrain (Winter + European) and some extra units (WWII + Feudal Japan). Now, however, with C3C, they didn't come with those terrain + units, but you can download them [legally] off CFC.

You aren't missing anything. There is no practical point of getting PTW and C3C. C3C will be all you hoped for.

1. Civ3
2. PTW
3. Civ3 Gold (Civ3 + PTW)
4. C3C
5. Civ3 Complete (Civ3 + PTW + C3C)

Civ3 = main game.
PTW = Multiplayer, plus new Civs & new building, units, etc. The disk also has many fan-made scenarios, and additional terrain/units, etc. that are not actually in the game.
C3C = Everything in PTW *core*, plus more Civs/Buildings/units/etc., plus new "professionally designed" scenarios called Conquests.

Many things were added in C3C that are not in PTW. That's why the fan-developed scenarios were left off the CD - there wasn't enough room for them. ;) But many of the fan-scenarios are available here for download. This is where many of them were developed, in fact. :) (Besides, they had to *gut* many of the scenarios on the CD - there were copyright issues and such, that Firaxis/Atari couldn't put them on a commercial CD, but you can get them from fan sites like this.)

And the reason you can get *some* of the PTW stuff free on this site, is because they had no room for it on the C3C CD, so they gave us explicit permission to make it available for download. (It is also available at their own site.) Things that were *included* on the C3C CD are still proprietary, and cannot be made freely available.

Hope that makes it clear. :D
