Deleting Save Game

This is such a stupid question that I am ashamed to ask. I want to delete the old save game files after I have finished playing a game. I have Windows 7 and have installed "Civilization IV: Complete" (the one without "Colonization") to default directories. I located the folder by going to Computer<Program Filesx86 < 2Kgames < Firaxis Games < Sid Meier's Civilization IV complete < then there is a shortcut _CivIV Saves. When I click on this, it prompts me to choose a program and whatever I choose (Notepad etc) it basically tells me that access was denied. Not sure what I need to modify to gain access. Why won't Civ designers ever just allow us to delete save files from the game menu anyway?

Look in your ~/My\ Documents/My\ Games folder, theres subfolder for Civ/bts there and thats where saves go to by default.
