First I'd really like to know how it works out each of the different categories (land size, GDP, literacy etc).

Second I was wondering why the purple nation always seems to have an absurdly high GDP and per capita income?

As for purple... it's not anything that's consistent. It could just be related to how you play and the leader that is playing purple in the game.

It cant be, really. Even from the first turn they have like 7000 for gdp and 3000 per capita income. It doesnt appear to affect the way the game plays, either...its just annoying

What version are you using? Maybe you need to download a patch?

Apparently its version 2.5.5 ('swat it says on the CD anyways).

GDP and so on for the purple are an known bug.
